2000 dodge ram 2500 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Improvements make this bold truck better. introductiondodge ram backs up its bold looks with powerful engines. It boasts excellent street manners with a smooth ride, quick steering and excellent brakes. and it comes with a host of significant changes for the new model year: more powerful engines; new front suspensions and steering systems for improved ride, directional stability and steering precision; new brake systems. Five engines are offered: 3. 9-liter v6, 5. 2-liter v8, 5. 9-liter v8, 8. 0-liter v10 and a cummins 5. 9-liter diesel inline-6. Every engine comes with a choice of 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Short and long beds are available. both of the popular v8 engines were upgraded last year. The 5. 2-liter v8 produces 230 horsepower; the 5. 9-liter v8 generates 245 horsepower and an impressive 335 pounds-feet of torque. For 2000, dodge rams are available in three new colors, including dark garnet red, sierra bronze and patriot blue. walkaroundfor the most part, its looks haven't changed. The bold design of the dodge ram is reminiscent of big freightliners steaming down the road with a full load of logs. It is arguably the best-looking pickup on the market. a number of under-the-skin upgrades have been made including electrocoated frame paint. The sport package comes with a body-colored grille and front and rear bumpers, decals, fog lamps, outline white letter tires, and cast aluminum wheels. To improve structural rigidity, dodge designed a beam that runs laterally under the truck, and reinforced both the a and c pillars. Side door guard beams were also added to improve protection from side impacts. interiorthe ram quad cab is about cavernous space. The absence of a b-pillar makes it much easier to get in or out of the rear seat; it also makes it much easier to stick something behind the front seats. This includes a new steering wheel design, a big storage compartment, an extra power point, and new cupholders designed to handle any commercially available drink container. For 2000, the ram comes with reduced-force air bags with a lockout for the passenger side. Other improvements include a new keyless remote entry system, an upgraded base sound system, a new cassette and cd sound system option and a new center console. The instrument pod features vacuum-fluorescent odometer and trip odometer that are tamperproof, and there are new driver-programmable keyless entry key fobs. Other interior features include heated power mirrors, illuminated power door locks and window switches, and an optional security alarm system. the front seat in all rams is divided 40/20/40, with a huge fold-down center section that doubles as armrest and writing table. When no one is sitting in it, the center position provides a large storage box, with divided spaces for coins, cassettes, maps or a laptop computer. For 2000, the designers have integrated the front seat belts into the seats themselves, which gets rid of messy hanging belts -- a particularly nice improvement for the wide-open quad cab doorway. the quad cab rear seat is the same one used in other extended cab versions. It's handy for children, pets and petite adults, but it is not very comfortable for adults on long trips. The bench portion of the seat flips up out of the way effortlessly from either side for hauling tools or cargo. The power window option comes with an express-down switch on the driver's side. Steering wheel mounted radio controls are optional. There are two new overhead console designs; one with and one without trip computer. This engine has a ton of torque and a broad power band, which makes it a great deal of fun to drive. Passing is effortless. The manual transmission can add flexibility in off-road situations, but we recommend the automatic for street use. Rear suspension is a conventional live axle with leaf springs designed to carry heavy loads. The dodge v8 pickup truck has for years had a special kind of presence on the street, and the ram backs up that presence with excellent street manners and ride. a new steering gear design along with new steering geometry make steering much more precise than earlier models. Steering in the earlier rams was light and quick, but had a lot of dead space on-center and seemed to require constant left-right adjustments. braking, with discs in front, drums in rear, is exemplary. The ram stops quickly with superb straight-line stability. The brakes have been redesigned with dual-piston front disc brake calipers and a more responsive brake booster for improved braking performance. the other thing that may have improved is the build quality. Improvements to the instrumentation, new powertrain and body combinations have made it better.

Front-wheel drive is standard for both models. An all-wheel-drive model 24,230) is also available. A package includes a six-way power-adjustable driver seat as well as seat heating for both front seats 595). A sliding moonroof 725) is available. The suspension is calibrated for aggressive cornering and includes 245/50r18 bridgestone turanza all-season tires. The vue's electric power-assisted steering is tuned for a a heavier, sporting feel. The red line also features a unique exterior appearance package and unique interior trim. safety features include front-seat airbags with seat-belt pre-tensioners, while optional curtain-type airbags 363) protect both front- and rear-seat passengers from head injuries. The center position of the rear seat comes with a three-point shoulder belt, a standard feature rarely seen in this price class. Onstar is standard for all models, and the service includes automatic request for emergency assistance when an airbag deployment is registered. Overall, the vue has an excellent reputation for safety, and it has earned five-star ratings in both front- and side-impact crash tests. walkaroundthe saturn vue is a five-passenger vehicle with a rear seat that folds flat to increase cargo space plus a one-piece rear liftgate. It's built around a car-like unit-body frame, which increases structural integrity and reduces weight. And also like a car, it has independent suspension at every wheel. the vue is a bit larger than both the ford escape and honda cr-v, as the saturn's 106. 6-inch wheelbase is some three inches longer. An escape averages about 150 pounds lighter, while the cr-v is about 100 pounds heavier. A major makeover for the 2006 model year added new front and rear fascias, and there's more style overall than before. The high beltline is fashionable, but compromises visibility for kids sitting in the back seat. This dent-resistant construction has long been a part of saturn's philosophical emphasis on practicality and durability. Unfortunately there's a downside to this feature, as the gaps between the body panels are a little large and unsightly, and there seems to be some shake and rattle of the panels as well. interiorthe interior of the saturn vue has improved markedly from its generic look of 2002, and last year's makeover has provided a real sense of style. The three-spoke steering wheel has a sporting look and the thick rim feels good in the hands. the vue's wide door openings and low step-in height simplify access. From the inside, the high belt-line doesn't seem to impair the panoramic view, although it might limit visibility for kids riding in the back seat. Large, outside rear-view mirrors make it easy to negotiate supermarket parking lots. There's plenty of pockets and cubbyholes throughout the interior to stash maps and other items. the standard seats nicely combine fabric and vinyl. The optional comfort package includes heated front seats and a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat. Optional leather seat upholstery includes trim for the steering wheel and shift lever as well as the seats. The red line package includes seats that combine black leather upholstery with suede-like inserts, power-adjustable driver's seat, metal overlays for the control pedals, embroidered floor mats and even footwell lighting in amber or blue. the switchgear is large and easy to operate, even while wearing winter gloves. Switches for the power windows are located on the center console, a requirement in the european markets where the vue was designed to be sold. the volume for the audio system is controlled with a large, central knob. Options include a six-disk cd and mp3 player. An input jack for a hand-held ipod comes standard. Xm satellite radio is a worthwhile option for those who live in rural areas or who plan to travel cross-country. access to the rear seats is surprisingly good, although the bottom cushion of the split, folding-back 70/30 seat is thin and positioned a little low, a measure to deliver a truly flat cargo floor when the seat back is folded forward. The vue has less rear-seat legroom than the honda cr-v, but more than the ford escape. the vue's optional, rear-seat dvd entertainment system is a remarkable luxury in this price class, and it features a seven-inch lcd screen that folds down from the ceiling plus dual, wireless headphones. There are also two power outlets for portable electric devices. the vue is configured largely to enhance passenger space, as its 113 cubic feet of passenger volume indicates, yet there's still some 30. 8 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the second seat. I am a dealer but his has been my daily driver for about a month now. This car has a few flaws as far as cosmetics, paint is peeling off of rubber side door guards, a few small dents. One of the rear passenger lights by license plate has been repaired, windshield washer fluid tank is not holding water from possibly a loose hose or cracked reservoir, ac & heat work great, tires are almost new, this car runs very smooth. I took the vehicle in on trade from an older gentleman he didn't drive it much. Overall this has been a very smooth riding car for my commute to work and gets around 18 mpg hw.
